The World of Olmith

Fiction by James Stuart Kinsey

The works gathered here arise from two distinct ways of seeing the world.

One from seeing a world full of wonder and the divine. The other through service, loss, and the hard truths of human experience.

Most of my fiction takes place in the World of Olmith. Others in wherever my imagination takes me.

James Stuart Kinsey, explores truth through story. A lifelong devotee of fantasy and science fiction, he crafts heroic tales where courage, faith, and sacrifice endure against impossible odds. Grounded in real-world experience, his imagined worlds leave room for wonder, redemption, and grace.

Strand of Hope

Gifts of Olmith - Book One

Dwarven warrior Brun Kondrun has spent his life protecting his twin brother Durgin and serving the Drungar clans with his ancestral battle-axe.

Recruited to lead elite warriors of the first clans on a desperate mission to seal an ancient vault, Brun meets Astrid of the Deep Forge Clan—a warrior whose skill and fire match his own. For the first time, he glimpses a future beyond mere survival.

Prophecy warns that failure will break the world. Brun expects treacherous terrain and relentless enemies, but not his brother's unexpected appearance. When the greatest threat emerges from within their own ranks, he faces an impossible choice: save the clans, or the people he loves. Not both.

Some battles are won with steel. Others cannot be won.

Chord of Peace

Gifts of Olmith – Book Two

Deep within their forest realm, the Elan'vul live apart from the world—aloof, insular, and certain of their perfection. They believe harmony is truth, music is life, and that their race alone was born to commune with the universe.

Receiving a sacred gift, the High Queen's pride drove her beyond wisdom. She forced harmony, rather than following it, leaving shadow-borne horrors and a people slowly losing their attunement to the world's song.

Amid this discord, a societal outcast, dismissed as tone-deaf by a cruel court, discovers he can hear what no one else can. Perceiving sound as color, true harmony calls to him.

Hunted by those who would complete the Mad Queen's work and guided by forest wardens, he must choose: can harmony be restored through listening, or will a final dissonant chord silence the song forever?

Fringe of Faith

Gifts of Olmith - Book Three

On the open plains of Olmith, the Morakon tribes live by ancient stories, fragile alliances, and a sacred Gift said to bind the physical world and spirit world together.

Taliyan is an outsider. Orphaned and taken in by the Morakon only after his worth is spoken by a storyteller. He walks between worlds, never fully belonging to either. Gifted with an uncanny battle-sight, Taliyan must learn that survival is not the same as purpose. As monsters stir and old spirits move again—winds that speak, and a cunning spider-god who delights in disruption.

Taliyan is drawn deeper into the Morakon’s trials of faith, leadership, and judgment. In choosing his path he becomes “The One Who Walks Both Sides Of The Mountain,” He may be the bridge between divided peoples…or the outcast that breaks them.
